Recording on a reel to reel tape since the age of 8, Jeff Wright has gone on to become one of the most sought after Engineer/Producers in Canada, receiving international recognition by way of Gemini and Emmy Awards.
Starting out as a drummer, Jeff played, toured, and recorded with several bands over a span of 20 years. Realizing a passion for the studio, he attended The Music Industry Arts Program at London’s Fanshawe College.
Studying under famed producer Jack Richardson (Guess Who, Alice Cooper) Jeff received a “Best Production of the year” award presented by Canadian Rock Icon Kim Mitchell, and thus began the career as an Engineer / Producer.
After a span of “Due paying” as an assistant engineer in Toronto Ontario, Jeff made the transition to a freelance recording engineer.
As well as recording bands, Jeff began recording voices for animated television shows shortly after becoming freelance, working on shows such as “Angela Anaconda,” MTV’s “Undergrads”, and “Savums”. Recording for over a decade, Jeff has gone on to work on international hit shows such as Arthur, Franklin, Ned’s Newt, Family Guy, Atomic Betty, Carl Squared, Urban Vermin, and Cyberchase, and the famed Dr Suess “Cat in the Hat” starring Canadian funny man Martin Short to name a few.
In 2010 Jeff was asked to Direct CBC’s anmiated show “Pirates” starring Tajia Isen, Joe Motiki, Carlos Diaz James Rankin, and Jane Eastwood. The show is a 3d Computer animated program, which ran for two seasons.
While working with internationally recognized artists, as well as award winning television shows, Jeff began sharing his passion for recording by way of in-studio class instruction to students from around the world at Trebas Institute, Toronto Canada.
Realizing a need to further develop curriculum, and prepare students for a career in the music industry, Jeff accepted the role as the Head of the Audio Engineering & Production course.
When not conducting Lectures, or Recording musicians or actors for Animated shows, Jeff still finds time to sit behind the drum kit and pound out some rock….
